Librarian’s Message

April 7, 2016

LIBRARIAN’S CORNER

My name is Janet Perea and since November 2014, I have been the Branch Manager for the Princeville Library. Princeville is a beautiful area, and I love the people who come into the library as well as the lush, green beauty, and almost wildness of the area. I live with my husband, Manny, and we have two adult children: Amanda and James, who live in Florida.

I received my master’s in Library Science in Florida, having also studied to be an educator. I love serving the public through the library systems—making comfortable and up-to-date places for people to come and learn and enjoy a good book.

Looking to the future, I hope to continue expanding our audio CD, large-type book, and foreign language collections, and to keep updating our nonfiction section as new books and information become available. I would also like to help bring a greater familiarity with, and use of, the latest technology to our library, our patrons, and our community.

Existing programming for Keiki such as storytime and Lego will continue as we seek to add programs and  entertainment that is wholesome and enjoyable. Check out our schedule on the website.

I would also like to thank the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville for their continued support of the library. The book sales, which they sponsor, continue to be very successful and a service to our community. I have worked in both Hilo and Lihue within the Hawaiian State Library system, and this group of Friends is the most active I have encountered. They are always happy to have more volunteers.

I appreciate the opportunity to be here at the Princeville Library and can say that I am enjoying myself very much. Stop by anytime to say hello. My staff and I will be happy to help you.
