Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville is the local affiliate of Friends of the Library of Hawaii, an active group of library users and advocates which for years has supported Hawaii’s public libraries through funding for programs, books and supplemental materials, equipment, and staff training
Our local affiliate of Friends of the Library of Hawaii supports the Princeville Public Library in its mission to offer excellent services to our residents and visitors. The group’s efforts began even before the opening of the library on April 14, 1999 and continue today in a variety of ways. As a major fundraiser, the Friends holds an ongoing quarterly Book Sale.
These funds provide new titles for the library’s book, DVD, and magazine collections, and they support special library events. Members volunteer assistance to the library staff for library projects and for special celebrations such as the annual library “birthday party.”
There are two general membership meetings each year for the membership at large and several additional meetings of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of men and women of the North Shore of Kaua`i who have a strong dedication to the enrichment of the Princeville Public Library.
